Phone Home. A poem by Sarah O’Connor

It’ll be with us
for a long while yet.
Or so someone
from the Department of Heath
told an Oireachtas committee today.
As you stare down
these zeros and ones,
each flicker of face
gives away
your thought and mine.
Thank God
for the iPad
and these video
links
we never bothered with
when I could fly
into Knock
in the blink
of an eye.
So you pray to Our Lady,
as we hope once again
for a miracle in the West.
