March 2020. A poem by Sinead Nic Sioda

This virus is killing the world
Tearing down all of it’s structure
Demolishing it brick by brick
Like Wuhan’s hotel of quarantine
Smithereens of smash, cement in dust.
The church door is shut and bolted,
Lock and chain clang in the long-term storm.
Trees are in lakes.
Now, we are closing our schools
Our Doctor has left us a note
I am an ally of threat
In the midst of this contradiction
Everything must stop.
Man made and man destroyed.
