I have never before had the time, a poem by Joanna Magill

I have never before had the time
To sit down and smell the sun.
To observe how the 5 o’clock shadow
Expands and blankets my herds.
To see how softly my hydrangeas tremble
In the easy wind.
To observe an ant march over my foot,
Leaving a trail of goosebumps in his wake.
To know that I am a miracle
And that I am alive.
