Untidy Times. A poem by Declan Parsons

Unlucky the hero born
In this era of stuck discord
Where the unimportant go jobless
And the Have-jobs fight wars –
While others are condemned to live restless and bored.

In here the reliable tick
Of an unseen clock
Steadies heart and breath.
Mouses click, keyboards clack,
The electric hum another constant rock.

Now, footsteps.
Beyond the blue drape
Two men in scrubs clown
In indecipherable tongues
While I await my fate.

Outside in the Beaumont air
Pink cherry blossoms
Softly fall
Without a care.
