Mother’s Day 2020 by Sandra Behan

#SandysAuthenticVoiceStanding in the Spring Sun as the cold wind makes her shiver. A Mother waits in the doorway for her family to visit.

A frail, small silhouette, she has lived through a hundred illnesses.

It is March, it is a week, two weeks, until the virus breaks, washing disease over us, clutching the vulnerable in its path.

In April when nature wakes, against a clear blue sky.
I shall remember today,
no kiss upon her tender cheeks.
no arms gently wrapped around her.

Forced to retreat into loneliness to keep her safe.

I love you mumĀ ♥
