going going gone. a poem by James Finnegan

there is a table
there is a chair
no one of importance sitting there

eight-thirty each morning
reading Charles Wright
say Negative Blue or Caribou

they took the table
they took the chair
they then took the coffee place away

eight-thirty each morning
by the carpark
look at the table look at the chair

no one of importance sitting there

James is published in poetry journals and magazines (Ireland, UK, and USA) and has written a book of poems Half-Open Door (2018) with a London publisher and lives with Livinia and a two-year-old springer spaniel Daisy
