After All of This. A Poem by Anne McDonnell

I made a batch of sausage rolls, honey onion,
gave some to the neighbours on their plate
they had given to us with pancakes and
maple syrup on the week before.
Never return a plate empty, I had noticed
myself thinking; something to keep going,
after all of this.
