We Are All The Same. A Poem by Margaret Haire

Social distance
Crippling resistance
Fighting against the unseen
So What’s changed?

Fear has always been
Confined to those dark places
Where eyes can’t see
Words heard but misunderstood.

I’m afraid of you and …
You’re afraid of me
But what if…
What if we could see

You are the same
We are both infected
By the unseen,
We are both perfected
By the unseen.

We can both let the light in
Embrace and be done with it.
Develop our immunity
To fear.
