Time Waster. A poem by Siobhan Lunn

My legs are toned and muscly
I’m incessantly on the bike
But now the dogs are even whining
‘Not the same 2k radius hike!’

I painted up in the attic
The hall, landing and stairs
Being quite an amateur, I splashed
Skirting, carpet and three chairs

The kitchen had its hold on me
It lasted until day twenty
We had quiches and home made pasta
Flapjacks, blondies and cakes a-plenty

I’ve read every novel in the house
And borrowed more from friends
But I should really get my head down
And write about educational trends

For there’s an assignment in the pipeline
Requiring thought and critical evaluation
But distraction calls, I’ll write a poem instead
As I am the master of procrastination
