Somebody that I used to know. A poem by Eimear Feerick

Venturing further – into the great unknown,
Unbeknownst to myself, my fear has grown.
I once would go out at the drop of a hat,
But now this pandemic has changed all that.

With people and places I know so well,
Fear has taken hold, found a place to dwell.
It lives inside and social media is fanning the flame,
It licks upwards, I try to look away but I too am to blame.

I want to return to myself again,
How do I find my way back,
How do I become who I used to me,
How do I navigate this new landscape in front of me.
