Precious Commodities. A new poem by Layla Moroney

As the last pack is taken from the shelf⁣
The vulnerable cocoon, protecting health⁣
Communities gather round, yet stay apart⁣
Joined by chaos and kindness of heart ⁣
Shoppers ,line up,quiet reflection⁣
Cashiers smile through perspex, some protection⁣
School gates closed, at home, bags open ⁣
Workspaces in living rooms, business adapts, coping. ⁣
Workouts,free gigs,yoga,media, now social⁣
Grandma and Grandad wave through window. Pain. Emotional. ⁣
Collectively clapping our medical staff, saints. ⁣
Government steps up,Irish pride, less complaints ⁣
Washing hands, keeping distance, flattening the curve ⁣
Handshakes, hugs and kisses gone, but still, we Love. ⁣
Art, crafts, games, exploring limited possibilities. ⁣
Health, wellness, family , friends. Precious Commodities. ⁣
