Pandemic 2020. A poem by Cathal Mac Thréinfhir

Arising from the Land of the Eastern Sun,
The shadow of Plague and Death ride out
Busy work for these horsemen to be done,
At first, the West looked to the East in doubt,

Never did we think it would reach us here,
We tracked on social media, the Chinese death toll
Grow, as infected days turned to fear,
Or when the breaking the bonds of control,

Set the riders loose upon the world,
The darkening shadows black across the lands,
The bloodied banners of Plague and Death unfurled
Fell horsemen holding high with chain mailed hands.

Courage and love must be our guardians now,
A gentle hand to cool the fevered brow.
