My Mirror Mind Sees. A poem by Gill Chedgey

As this lockdown continues
I can watch myself age.
My mirror mind sees;

The wrinkles deepen.
The frown lines extend.
The muscles atrophy.
The joints seize up.
The organs shrink.
The hair whitens.
The toe nails lengthen.

A times lapse camera
would reflect the decline.

And, yet, if you asked me,
‘D’you want lockdown to end?’
I’d have to say, ‘No.’
Let me die from old age
Not COVID-19.
