Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Balls. A poem by Eddie McClenaghan

All that disposable love,
a socially distant memory
when you have to stay
two metres away.

All that stockpiled latex
you could re-purpose
as makeshift gloves
for self inflicted
disposable love.

All those swiped matches
unable to strike
all that fire isolated
in your damp squib.

All those walls
bricks of plastic pasta and toilet roll
a fort of anti-fornication
desensitised in hand sanitised self-deprecation.

…………

Eddie is a writer from Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone and someone we were delighted to meet at the John Hewitt International Summer School.
