Levelling. A poem by Linda Hughes

Every valley raised up
Every mountain laid low
Prepares the way
The seed to be sown
Wealthy or poor
Valued or not
Equal in death
Equal in God

Payrises come
Value now seen
Applause for key workers
Leaders unclean
Words heard are cheap
Unless actions reveal
Consistent deed
Truth’s firm appeal

Money debunked
Stock market dead
The currency of kindness
Resurges instead
Rainbows rain hope
And media too
Good news sprouts life
To spring up anew
