Let the battle begin. A poem by Celine Hawthorne

Senses on high alert as never before,

Wishing to hear, taste, or smell the silent enemy ,

Impossible to ignore.

Distorted, chaotic,confusing
messages adding to the furore.

Making its appearance similar to the
Trojan horse in Greek folklore,

Revelling from within deadly,
faceless, silent enemies,

Intent on instilling uproar.

Tasteless, devious, threatening , a
novel appearance in history and memory.

Deep sadness as loved ones
succumb to its unforgiving intention

Too frail to defeat the enemy within.

Battle begins for intervention,
A flurry of activity, volunteering worldwide,

With the common goal,
To win.
