Hunter Gatherer. A poem by Eve Redmond

I am a hunter gatherer
Daily I secure click ’n’ collect slots
After a few days I am successful
I strike the jackpot three in one day
I feel guilty as driving home from one
I spot an old man rooting in a bin
Why didn’t I stop and help him or give him some of my food
My survivor instinct prevails and my catch is for my herd
Has capitalism made me this selfish
I try to ease my guilt and think when this is all over I am going to
Make a difference
I don’t know how yet
Covid is the virus
Capitalism is the pandemic
Socialism is the cure
