In the park
Daffodil foot soldiers
Spring’s botanical vanguards
Advance
Delightfully smug in their profusion.

Magnolia torchbearers
Burst with the promise
Of a light brigade
Battalions of cherry blossom
Bombard with pink and white
Petal parachutes.
What force can prevail
With earth’s resilient army
On the march?
