Michael Gallagher, an Irish writer, poet, editor and facilitator, was born on Achill Island and worked in London for forty years before retiring to Kerry. His prose, poetry, haiku and songs have been published in Ireland and throughout Europe, Japan, America, Australia, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Canada. His writing has been translated into Croa tian, Japanese, Dutch, German and Chinese and Serbian. He won the 2009 Samhlaiocht Slam, the 2010 and 2016 Michael Hartnett Viva Voce competitions, he was shortlisted for the Hennessy Award in 2011 and won the Desmond O’Grady International Poetry Contest in 2012. In 2018, he was placed in Ballydonog hue Bardic festival and Listowel Writers Week. In 2019 he won the Westival slam. He has read extensively at festivals and venues throughout Ireland and Britain, and has been awarded residencies at the Heinrich Boll Cottage and Cill Rialaig. His poetry collection Stick on Stone was published by Revival Press in 2013.
